Always together: the story of Leo, who never left us

A bit delayed, but I’m still sharing our story.

Once again, thank you. Leo and I fell in love with each other from the very first day we met. For my husband and me, it was a big surprise that the cat trusted strangers so quickly and didn’t leave our hands from the first minutes. He was a very gentle cat.

Since 2018, he was always with us—no matter what we did or where we went. He loved to jump onto the chair at the dining table and beg for cheese or sour cream. He adored playing with water. He was very talkative, kind, and playful. He loved guests and being among people. When someone left the room, he would follow them because, in his opinion, everyone should stay together in one space. He always showed special attention during difficult and emotional moments of life. He was a true support.

Leo was never just a cat for us. He was a true member of our family.

This spring, he was diagnosed with immunodeficiency, which caused many other illnesses—leukemia, rhinotracheitis, chlamydia, and later cancer. We tried to save him and did everything possible and impossible. But soon his condition worsened. Cancer took its toll. Leo stopped fighting. He refused to eat and constantly stayed by the front door. He wanted to leave home…

It was very painful for all of us. Everyone in the family struggled deeply with his loss. Most likely, he acquired the immunodeficiency virus at the cattery where we got him. Veterinarians who knew him since kittenhood believe so. The cattery stopped their social media around 2019—they simply “disappeared.” So it is reasonable to assume that the problem was due to their care of the kittens.

But even if we had been told in 2018 what we would have to go through, we still would have taken Leo. Because it was an incredible love and moments that will remain precious memories.

In our city, there is no official pet cemetery. We couldn’t bury Leo just anywhere. I am very happy that we found your service. Knowing that Leo would remain with us in some way became a real salvation. We are very grateful for your quality work!

Since our Leo was a true sunshine, we placed his stones in the sunniest place in the house, in the kitchen. That was where he loved to spend the most time.
