Kostik — a piece of our family

The story of our life with Kostik began 15 years ago. I met a tiny red stray with a wounded soul and a broken tail tip. He was a little bundle of happiness that fit in my hands, and later became a true friend for my son, who had just started first grade at the time. For a long time, our Kostik had to learn to trust people—probably because, in his childhood, he had to face human cruelty. Perhaps that’s why he could read people so well: he hissed at some visitors right at the door, while welcoming others warmly, as if they were old friends.

Love and care worked their magic—he began to trust again, yet remained proud and independent. He never became a “cuddly” cat, but he became the main member of our family. For 15 years, he gave us his love—sometimes quiet, sometimes playful—and we gave him ours in return.

He loved chasing strings and racing with my son. He was a cat who didn’t care for fish as food but loved batting at fish on the TV screen. His gaze was full of humanity, and he always sensed our moods, staying close in important moments. We became family to him, just as he became family to us. And he lived that life knowing human kindness, care, and love.

We are infinitely grateful to you for your work, your tact, and your delicacy. It was not easy, but thanks to you, we were able to honor Kostik’s final journey properly, together with my son, who couldn’t be there when our cat left this world.

He will forever remain in our memory and in our hearts.
