Chelsea: A Lifetime of Tenderness

A Cat Named After a Football Team

In 2013, someone left this little kitten in a trash bin at my mom’s workplace. She was quietly sitting there, and my mom noticed her by chance. She was quite small, so we initially thought to give her to our outdoor cat, who also had kittens. But then a rainstorm started, so we brought the kitten home.

At home, she quickly ate and immediately did all her kitty business in the litter box. So we decided to keep her and named her after my husband’s favorite football team – Chelsea.

She was simply the perfect cat: we could play and run around the house with her, and when we watched a movie, she would always sit purring on our laps. In the mornings, she would wake us with her cold, wet nose to be fed. Such a gentle and loving cat was truly rare.

In 2021, Chelsea began having health problems. She underwent a full mastectomy and spaying. Without the surgery, it would have been cancer. But she also had a weak heart. From 2021 to 2024, all efforts focused on supporting her health, but age took their toll. A heart attack took our Chelsea in just a few seconds.

Then I found Spogad, saved the page, hoping I wouldn’t need it soon.

But on September 30, when Chelsea passed away, I immediately contacted Spogad to understand what to do next. I am very grateful for their work – now our little Chelsea rests with us and is always near our hearts.
